Ugnė Tamuliūnaitė and Elvita Brazdylytė are
Lithuanian scenographers, costume designers and collaborative artists working across contemporary theatre, installation and expanded scenographic practices. Their work combines scenography, moving image, textiles, sound and performative practices, exploring the relationship between space, body and audience.
Together they are developing the ongoing project Would You Mind Being Around Me While I Work on This, conceived as a trilogy created across different cultural contexts.
Proposal
Would You Mind Being Around Me While I Work on This
is an ongoing collaborative project by scenographers Ugnė Tamuliūnaitė and Elvita Brazdylytė, bringing together contemporary theatre, scenography, installation and performance.
During their residency at MiSHŌ, the artists will conduct artistic research for the third chapter of the project, exploring how living in an environment shaped by natural instability influences attention, coexistence and the perception of space.
Through site observation, conversations, sound recording, photography and video documentation,
they will gather material that will form the foundation of a future performative installation, developed in a later creative stage in collaboration with a performer.
The residency will also provide an opportunity for
Ugnė and Elvita to exchange artistic practices with fellow residents, present their previous work, and establish long-term international collaborations.
They are particularly interested in the cultural and architectural context of Fujino, and in learning how its relationship with landscape, temporality, and adaptation can inform their artistic practice.
