Laura Kutkaitė (b. 1993) is a Lithuanian theatre director and artist, and one of the distinctive voices in contemporary Lithuanian theatre. Her practice moves between experimental theatre, documentary approaches and collaborative research, often blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality.
Proposal
Listening to the Mountain / MA is an artistic research project exploring environmental change as a form of shared grief. During the residency in Fujino, Laura Kutkaitė will explore how loss can be sensed through changes in landscape, sound, memory and everyday relationships with place.
Through walking, listening, sound recording and encounters with local residents, foresters, gardeners and craftspeople, she will develop a practice based on attentive listening rather than representation. The research will culminate in an intimate performative walk or open work-in-progress, inviting the community to listen, pause and experience - or grieve - the landscape together. The residency will also support Kutkaitė’s exploration of artistic forms beyond conventional theatre.

Amy (Mimi) Lawrence is a non-binary performance artist and composer from Cornwall in the UK. They have released music with Prah Recordings (London), EM Records (Osaka) and Circle Dance Recordings (London). They perform as The Worm, a combination of fantasy, history, and surrealism in the form of music and movement. They have a band called Goblet who play recorder pieces accompanied by speculative short stories and plays. They have also created scores for art and dance films such as Gocki Lorden (Bunny Ladd), Dowr Tamar (Sam Bestwick) and Baggage (Nathan Lafayette). Their work contains storytelling, movement and practical effects such as costume and props. Their compositions often include medieval instruments and sparse, sometimes comedic arrangements. They have been in residence at Britten Pears Arts, Gwithian Chapel and Prah Foundation. Mimi works out of a small shack-like studio at Trevone Quarry in Cornwall.
Proposal
At MiSHO Amy plans to experiment with choreography using a puppet, write music, and record some existing compositions. They will perform a sharing of their progress in one of the spaces in the residency or in the local nature.
ウリヨナ・オディシャリヤ

Ulijona Odišarija is a Lithuanian-Georgian artist based between Vilnius and London. She works across sculpture, photography, video, text and acts of collecting.
Ulijona has been working with found images from online resale platforms and reused wrapping, packaging and office paper, creating abstract sculptural objects, collages and photographs that often act as fuzzy reflections of mass production. She explores mediated domesticity and the ways wear and use subvert mass production, resisting conservation and giving objects a different valence. She's equally drawn to the amateur snapshots that populate resale platforms, reading these vernacular product images against the lineage of still life and the conventions of fashion and commercial photography.
Proposal
During the residency, Ulijona will investigate how function and poetry intersect in Japanese wrapping culture — from food preservation and storage to gift wrapping and protective casing — allowing it to hold mystery and meaning. Her research will combine hands-on exploration of paper manipulation techniques with a writing practice.

Born in Tokyo, based in Hachioji,
Madoka Tasaka works across bodily expression, video, photography, and writing.
Alongside her artistic practice, she also runs a mineral shop.
Since 2019, she has studied dance, Eurythmy, and Butoh under Kenta Kuge. She is also a member of the Koto Shinbukai Aikido dojo.
Through the intersection of movement and language emerging from dance practices, as well as the embodied awareness and breath cultivated through martial arts, she explores multilayered dimensions of the body that exist beyond the visible and invisible.
“Listening to Boundaries”
During this residency, Madoka Tasaka will explore the changes that arise within the body through encounters with the land of Fujino: its people, landscapes, and histories.
Moving beyond the visible aspects through which we usually perceive everyday life, Tasaka is interested in sensing the unspoken atmospheres, memories, and relationships that exist beneath the surface. What can the body perceive when one listens not only to what appears in form, but also to what is happening beyond it?
Drawing on dance practices and the sense of "musubi" (connection) found in Aikido, Tasaka will examine transformations that emerge across various boundaries: between people, body and land, inside and outside.
Throughout the residency, Tasaka will document the process through video and writing, and create works in dance, video, and text based on the sensations and questions that arise.
