A writer and creative from Singapore whose practice extends across food and publishing. She is the founder and editorial director of The Slow Press, an independent food magazine established in 2021. Through interviews, reflection, and cooking, her work explores our everyday food culture – how relationships with land and produce shape our personal identities.

More recently, Christy has co-written and self-published Talk Cock Sing Song (2024) and Assistant To The Assistant Chef (2025) under The Slow Press, alongside contributions to the magazine’s annual volumes. As a self-taught home cook, she has also hosted food-centric events in Singapore, Saigon, and Sydney, as a meaningful extension of her practice.

Proposal

At MiSHŌ, Christy hopes to better understanding the local produce and food culture of Fujino. Coming from a densely populated, perennially tropical city with little produce to call its own, she seeks to settle into the seasons and reflect upon how that translates into the meals prepared for the dinner table.

Her research and kitchen tests will culminate in a lunch event, where she intends to prepare a meal with local ingredients for guests. Alongside, she will be working on a publication that will continue post-residency, together with her research into Singaporean food.
